People are so focused.on "tax the rich".

Maybe instead they should be focused on "stop giving the rich all our money"?

Our far left prime minister just pledged 18 billion dollars to Volkswagen for a 5 billion dollar battery plant, in a country of 45 million people. About 500 dollars for every man, woman, and child in the country.

There's homeless people begging in the streets. There's hundreds of native reserves without water. But no, it's the poor poor company founded by Hitler that really needs that money, extracted directly from the middle class and future generations.

@sj_zero But we have to mortgage our future and give them all the heckin' dollars or we'll hurt our Gee Dee Pee!

When these schemes work they generate more tax revenue than was spent. When they don’t..

Some states in the US have clawback provisions such that if they cut employment in the state in the first 10 years or so, they have to pay back the subsidy. That happened to Dell several years ago. If you’re going to do these sorts of things it’s incumbent upon the state to do the math and put in provisions in order to better ensure a payback.

They aren’t all bad. But they need to be written properly.

If they want to do that, fine, but I don't want to hear any crap about "tax the rich" while the rich get billions of dollars in handouts and the middle class is being crushed with taxation levels over 50% of income.

Yeah that’s a mantra generally spouted by people who don’t understand how reality works.
