@sun being old is fine, gold is old, it's what is ABLE to be done that is what interests me.
Today there is LightningNetwork which solves a bunch of problems around medium of exchange, and some usability issues etc, what is newly being built to enable anonymous payments over lightning is super-interesting (#fedimint), it also solves problems related to security for 85% of people who are not technically minded.
So yeh, u want old tho, old=asset.
@hj ^^^
@sun @hj i would be surprised if someone hasn't looked at a better performing technology and done both a cost/benefit analysis toward including it in the codebase and maybe also completed mathematical proofs of its security, but yeah i think the devs are VERY resistant of introducing coins that are not compatible with older software, i think they have sort of confidence rounds where they say if eg. 90% of transactions have signalled readiness to upgrade then it it'll updgrade. Or something like that.
@sun @condret There’s that Ripple thing that @jeffcliff likes. But I think that’s centralised. This paper may interest you. I’m not an expert on this stuff. I’m just providing links so you can DYOR.
