FBXL Social

You mean @taylankammer.bsky.social?

BTW, have you heard of Nostr?
BSky is pretty centralised, I've heard.

I've heard them say there are too many web-based front ends.
Here's a list: https://nostr.net/

What I heard was that there can be third-party "PDSs" but the identity layer (did:plc) is centralised.

MIT license.
Doesn't support custom domains yet though

How are the relays controlled?

Where did they say that?

Huh? That's about ATProto/BlueSky. I sent it to you because you were looking for technical documentation.

But yes, SSB looks really cool. A shame I don't know how to get an invite.

Didn't Napster get sued because it enabled piracy? BlueSky/ATProto isn't enabling piracy to my knowledge.

Or SSB

You were saying that combining centralised and decentralised models doesn't work because Napster tried it and failed. But my point was that Napster had legal issues and that's why it went under (although Soulseek is using the same model and hasn't gone under yet so idk).

Then again, what with all the challenges to free speech that have been popping up around the supposedly free world lately, I guess there will be legal issues for social media as well. So I retract that point.

What do you mean "censorious culture"? You're running your own server. You can't be censored.

I don't use it.

would be nice to have it in f-droid

You can use Obtainium to keep it updated via it’s GitHub page

But if you leave fedi, you can't talk to those people at all.
Unless you're putting your foot in both camps.

Also, BlueSky has filter lists / moderation feeds as well. But those are more individually chosen, so they are better than #fediblock.

What about Nostr relays? They’re visible if you look at your list.

How is he trying to fix it?

Why the scare quotes? How are these instances not like normal instances?

How is this better than fedi and Nostr then?

I had always thought Ditto was about making Nostr and fedi play nicely together.
