And you might go "Oh, well you're just getting old and you like the nostalgia", but a lot of it I've never seen before!
Not to mention, stuff not out of the west I'm enjoying weekly. It's just the Hollywood system that's failing to produce anything I want to watch.
(I guess there's been a very small number of examples of good stuff made in the past 10 years I watched and enjoyed, but not many, and they sort of prove that it isn't like I'm dogmatically avoiding western media made in the past 10 years)

Nearly all the movies I watch are from '85 and before. Took a look at my imdb and there are only 2 movies after that, and even then the latest one is from '90. Most active years are '72, '64, '41, and '42.
More and more I find myself watching foreign film. It covers subjects and themes Hollywood never touched. It also allows for endings that aren't certain, whereas in Hollywood the bad guy gets killed, the good guy gets the girl, and everything has to be hunky dory at the end.
@sj_zero For a while now I've had a rule of not watching things made after 2010. Like you I'm not hard-and-fast about it, and I don't apply it to games at all (I like modern graphics), but most stuff I watch is from the 80s-90s.
@kilroy_was_here @sj_zero right? Once in a while I dip@my toe in current films and there’s always one or two decent ones. But I’m with you most of the time! 100+ years of world cinema are calling me…
