"I hate systemd" is just a roundabout way of saying "I have never used linux in production"

@shrimp i have and still do

@shrimp "Heh, systemctl enable? What a noob you are, I utilize 15 shell scripts for that and it's far superior, in fact, it's so superior, I'm debugging two of them right now because they don't work on my new system"

@shrimp used Linux in production for a decade before systemd was ever used anywhere. Get good

@prettygood so did i, then when better tools came out i started using them instead of being a greybeard luddite

What's the point in arguing about this? Just use what you like.

@Hyolobrika @prettygood thats what i do, it's funny how mad they get though

I think we'd all be happier if we just stopped getting mad at things other people do that don't affect us.

@Hyolobrika @prettygood and yet they keep doing it

@shrimp @Hyolobrika I'm not upset, there's pros and cons on either side. I have more muscle memory for openrc, but I'm very comfortable with systemd

@prettygood @Hyolobrika maybe not you but people definitely get mad since every time i make a shitpost like this I get at least a couple very defensive replies

@shrimp the one really competent anti-systemd person I knew got so disgusted with computers that he permanently left the field

@allison that's at least a logical response. There are plenty of reasons to hate systemd, it's just that every alternative is far worse

@allison @shrimp i don't understand how people can be so upset about an init

they just want to be upset about it

@NeonPurpleStar @allison people were very mad when debian and others switched to systemd and a good number of them are still very mad to this day

@NeonPurpleStar @shrimp most anti-systemd stuff online is 100% cargo culting and virtue signalling, especially the closer you get to places like /g/

@allison @shrimp i never know wtf you're talking about but you still suck

@higanbana @allison kiss and make up

@shrimp @allison do you know where that mouth has been? actually mine's been in worse places can i choke her while we kiss

@higanbana @allison does she suck chud dicks or something

@shrimp @higanbana in her frenzied imagination perhaps

@shrimp @higanbana I still like when she thought that the main thing I do in my off time is erp with random catgirls on the internet when in actual fact I've only erped with anyone at all a few times in my life

@allison @higanbana is that what she does/

@shrimp @allison no but she's kissed catgirls instead of me which makes her mouth ontologically gross

@higanbana @shrimp there's a really damning retort I could say here, but I care about you, so I won't

@allison @shrimp i already acknowledged i am more filthy and tarnished than you will ever be

@higanbana @allison im pure because i dont have penetrative sex

@shrimp "I hate systemd" is just a roundabout way of saying "OH YES DADDY FUCK ME HARDER AH YEAH FUCK MY FEMBOY BUSSY OOOOUGH"

@shrimp I know how to use it, I choose not to. It isn't all bad. Timers are 10x better than cron, and journalctl is legit.

timers are real niggas

@shrimp @allison It makes maintaining services and servers so much easier it's not even close.

@shrimp @allison I feel like a lot of people just hate it for the sake of it

as a normal user, systemd has no downsides, and all I've done is that, make services and timers

im a chud 😉

@shrimp @higanbana sometimes, yeah

@allison @shrimp i don't erp with random catgirls i only erp with rizzlers

@higanbana @shrimp if by "rizzlers" you mean sociopaths and narcissists using you to gratify their sexual urges and then throwing you away once you've outlived your perceived uselessness, then sure (not to say these are the only kinds of people you erp with but they make up a truly worrying percentage on net)

@prettygood @shrimp @Hyolobrika
True.

SystemD can do lots of tricks, while others like runit are simpler to use.

There is no ultimate init system, its all personal taste IMHO.

Whether I love systemd or hate it depends on whoever I'm trying to irritate at that very moment.

@shrimp "I love systemd" is just a roundabout way of saying "I have never used linux"

@Hyolobrika @shrimp @prettygood cough recent hack cough

@Hoss @arcana @shrimp Once I started really delving into the different linux flavors, this image made absolutely no sense. It comes down to personal taste. Some people love customization and tweakability to the point they will literally make their general lives harder just to get to that point.

Take a several mile walk sometime. You might just find you enjoy it. "Lol I travel by car! See ya virgins!" Like, okay. Then what?
