It should be illegal to hold any public office or political position while having dual citizenship. Full stop.

can't agree. immigrants are often more concerned about being good citizens etc than those of us born here.
I can go for being skeptical if they become citizens of somewhere else and then run for office in their former country.
If they are fully wedded to the future of their host country they can renounce other citizenships.
