What is this moralistic nonsense? It's my decision whether I block a domain or not, not @alex's

@Hyolobrika Is this a general message (confirm blocking domains) or a targeted thing? That would change how i see it completely.

@admitsWrongIfProven Probably the first one.

@Hyolobrika If it's general, why are you so worked up about this specific instance of a confirmation message? There are lots of "confirm you want to do something drastic" messages, i think it fits.
Take the perspective of a rather univolved user, they might not understand blocking a domain is heavy.

@admitsWrongIfProven @Hyolobrika
I think it's a good message, explaining that blocking the annoying user might be a better idea. A lot of people come to Fedi with misconceptions about moderation and start thinking that having better moderation tools is about blocking as many people as you can — they even start getting frustrated that block lists are too short, which is insane.

@admitsWrongIfProven @Hyolobrika
They end up not being able to communicate with anybody at all and eventually crawl back to Twitter, where they get frustrated about the lack of moderation, but at least they are still able to interact with people 🤷

CORNU

@admitsWrongIfProven It's pushy. "Do you really really want to".
I thought this side of fedi was the one that doesn't like software that pushes it's creators values on it's users.

@Hyolobrika Point taken, it could appeal more on the factional level than on the emotional level.

@admitsWrongIfProven Factions are emotional

@Hyolobrika Maybe my english slipped here and i used a false friend. I meant fact-based. Like explaining what blocking a domain means vs. blocking individual accounts.
