The right enjoyed it when Trump attacked the Republican field of candidates the first time around because they were a bunch of do nothing RINOS (except for Rand Paul), but attacking Ron is not appealing.

Is he losing support from the party, or the people?

I'm not surprised, I just dont think it will sit well with the base in this instance.
