Maybe the reason is that our lives aren't actually better despite our technology and agriculture and they knew that.
Can everyone who had me on XMPP please add me again on SXC now that my server broke? The fact that you can switch receiving servers for a conversation with a single click makes it much more reliable than XMPP, where your provider is basically a single point of failure for all your conversations.
@SusiArnott pity that article isn't available on Sci-Hub
@condret Some people need a reason to regret and apologize. They won't just do it naturally.
Does anyone know a good XMPP provider thats
1. Reliable
2. Not going to ban me for stupid reasons
3. Not associated with trolling or raiding behaviour that gets *them* banned from chatrooms/defederated/etc (I don't know if servers get banned that often on XMPP but I think it was worth asking)

@condret Nerds should gatekeep the tech to keep the former bullies out.
@KimPerales @supergrobi (I didn't notice that freedom to travel was what was being restricted at first)
@supergrobi @KimPerales I'm referring to abortion

@KimPerales Restricting their freedom to travel? That's a bit extreme. Where did you read that?
@Amikke I have heard that he is obsessed with Apple products and won't stop talking about them, but I don't know if he specifically forms his identity around them.
@Amikke Actually yes, my little cousin is one. But I rarely see him so I didn't think of him.
@strypey Technology is always frustrating.
@supergrobi @KimPerales Freedom to kill is not a desirable freedom.
Do people actually believe in consumerism?
As in, do they actually have an "identity" based on what they buy?

@lowqualityfacts I fucking hate that phrase. It's a bunch of conformist crap.
