Have you ever transitioned from a sleeping dream to just being awake and you don't know when it happened but it did? I swear that's the world. This was my childhood. This was my teenage years. This was my twenties. Now all of these are unacceptable again, but now it's the left trying to take away everyone's fun.

@Jdogg247 Everyone remotely interesting should quit twitter. Big tech has broken the social contract it made with its users, so it should pay the consequences.
@freedompatriot Not to mention, China is worse on all fronts. If all we needed was to be communist, then why aren't the communists everything they claim we'd be if we only became communist?

This lovely wall of text in response to a question about why people are so upset about censorship is the reason why I ultimately switched. When I realized I wrote this whole thing and it didn't even get posted.

@p I won't claim it's going to change the world, but it's still the language I play around with on a hobby basis. The community has done an amazing job of keeping it reasonably up to date over the past 5 years.
@p Ah, I meant the other direction. I had a bunch of good sites set up to pull the rss feed and then I'd routinely get content from producers who won't ever create a federated account.
@p I like that it's much more responsive. I see things coming up much more quickly, I didn't need to fiddle with caching to keep the front page meaningful, and the husky app is really nice. I'm going to miss rss support, and I'm still getting used to the interface, but so far so good. The fact that my posts don't go up 5 minutes after I put them up is killer.
