I had an intuition that mounting my fanless PCs vertically would result in significant temperature improvements because convection currents would carry away more heat. I was right! Normally the system CPUs are running around 58C. This morning they reported to me that they're running around 43C!
@dickmasterson If by real you mean "a male chinese soldier in a CPP intelligence disinformation center", then yes.
I took the 3 fanless computers that were scrounged from roadside signs and mounted them on a board, that's now mounted on the wall next to my router. Reuploading a better quality photo.

@pluralistic Remember, this is the same Chevron that tweeted support for Black Lives Matter. One of thousands of megacorps that supported BLM while supporting murderous regimes around the world in plain view.
They aren't your friends. They aren't your allies. They will support everything you're against the moment it becomes moderately convenient to do so.

@dgh It's important that during this time of the powerful abusing their power that we don't hand that power to someone else just to repeat the cycle.
Unfortunately, protecting megacorps from the consequences of their own decisions is a bipartisan effort. Only a few fringe players on either side of the political spectrum are willing to say "we should let companies that make bad decisions fail".
Whenever the government picks winners, they break the system, and the resulting organizations will be broken and corrupt and useless. The companies that spent all their profits on stock buybacks should face the consequences in bad times. That's the solution to stock buybacks.

@AlexJones According to the left and Adolf Hitler, Asians are honorary whites. Why do they care about honorary whites being attacked?
@eff It doesn't matter if you agree or disagree with Trump. Realizing that Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, and all kicked off a sitting president should scare everyone. Even if you hate Trump, next time it might be your guy, and what then? You can't exactly be outraged, you loved big tech censorship when it was attacking your political enemies!
@grey huh.
@AlexJones doesn't sound like a bad idea, to be honest. On the other hand, pretty sure I checked the box.
@jeff HOW DO I EMAIL MY GRANDDAUGHTER?
In Canada, a comedian named Rick Mercer did political comedy for years, first on a show called this hour has 22 minutes and later on a show called Rick Mercer report. He retired a few years back and wrote a book consisting largely of his rants from over the years (his most famous bit) but also some vingettes from his career. I was reading the book and one thing sort of caught my attention.
He had a rant about how he saw someone in a comment section with a pseudonym say "I want this guy to die horribly". He called it a death threat, and called for people to use their real names online.
In light of what the world has become, I realized something: "I wish that guy would die" isn't a death threat, but "express your opinions using your real name online" might be.
Rick is gay, so he MUST realize that just a little while ago in history gay people had to be pseudonomynous because they would be cancelled by the right because their existence was considered politically bad.

@pluralistic in the past few months I've realized that the only platform, the only storage device you can trust is your own, and even then it's only if you have the data in file formats you don't need to ask permission to use.
I think there's a lot of money to be made in packaging up self-sufficiency and making it available to people who don't have the skill set to do it themselves.

@MisterRogersSnapped @CoolKittyClub I assume they're referring to the creator God almighty.
I think vice should start working on that front, fight for censorship in the name of God. Then the left's transformation into the religious right will be complete.

@CoolKittyClub a group using communal software and contributing to a communal ecosystem where each uses what they need and each contributes what they can and doing it largely for free to fight the power of censorious megacorps, and that's far-right.
If thats fascist then slap a swatzika on me and call me Adolf!
