Advocate for freedom and tolerance even if you say things I do not like

Adversary of Fediblock

Accept that I'll probably say something you don't like and I'll give you the same benefit, and maybe we can find some truth about the world.

Ah... Is the Alliteration clever or stupid? Don't answer that, I sort of know the answer already...

@stevejail @alex @thendrix Really, if they just followed the standard than presumably it wouldn't be a problem. If your product only communicates with your product, then you've got a potential for damage through the single points of failure.

@stevejail @alex @thendrix I think it federates with itself, which is fine I guess, but reduces one of the benefits of a standardized protocol.

@thendrix @stevejail @alex sneaking in to say that lotide is a super light weight weight topic based discussion platform using activitypub. I've got an instance at https://lotide.fbxl.net and by my view the only real problem with it is there aren't enough people using it to reach that critical mass.

My understanding is that Lemmy doesn't really allow for federation yet, but lotide communities can be subscribed to using Mastodon or pleroma already.

re: leftypol
@fluffy Seems like this guy is just dumb. Don't know why people focus on a dummy so much.

@grey You fool! The banner is a lie! Now your mom is going to start vax isis!

@eff in addition to pushing for legislative solutions to this, there should be a real push by anyone who values freedom towards decentralized platforms and the idea that you can host your own federated platform where you don't need to ask permission to exist.

I think that ensuring that people have access to the tools they need to avoid censorship by hosting their own thing and getting people into a freedom mindset that we should host our own things should be a higher priority than trying to save those who refuse to decentralize and willingly give up their freedom to a massive monolith.

@peoplespca the PPC is wrong.

I voted for cretien and Martin, and I don't lean PPC, I dive face first into it.

@Joseph_Cusumano That's really cool, but I feel like for another 50 bucks you could have the glasses automatically focus on what you're looking at.

Join the woke cult today!
The "for the better, right?" Meme with the text "I'm going to segregate whites and coloreds" / "For social justice, right?" / "..." / "for social justice, right?"

I feel like social media the way they've developed it is In the flesh from Disk 2 of another brick in the wall.

@FBICatgirl @TurboNormie The problem with bubbles, and particularly bubbles that last a while, is that people think they're right solely because they haven't been proven wrong yet.

It happened in the 2000s too -- if you bought the biggest stocks of the dot com bubble, most of those stocks are worthless today, the companies don't exist and often haven't existed for decades.

I think the time to pay the piper is coming quickly.

@raucao Definitely a gross violation of medical ethics not giving a truthful representation of the risks of both taking and not taking the vaccine.

I've taken my untested experimental vaccine, but I did so fully recognizing that I'm choosing a balance of risks and the only way to get a vaccine out this fast is to skip a decade of essential tests to make sure it's safe.

@josh I suspect it's more because they tried to get people onto other websites not owned by Jeff than because of anything they did.

If the weather network added chromecast support and just showed the local weather while displaying ads it would become the top earner in the app store immediately.

@Zennblack And the Republicans will by and large pretend to oppose it while walking right behind them.

@lain I like chronotrigger.

Just a nice story about being a nice person

@AlexJones “sources familiar with his thinking”?

@anon00110 @11112011 It directly relates to the story of blackouts in california, shortly after other stories of blackouts in texas, and residents of both states going "See? Your state is terrible!"
