@saxnot I have an Indian living with me, and he regularly points out something on the other end of the spectrum: a dollar isn't a dollar isn't a dollar. If he buys something in the west, he's sometimes paying 2, 5, 10, 50 times as much as he's used to paying for the exact same thing.

I've said it many times about "politically acceptable". In 1938 it was politically acceptable to hate the jews. In 1948 it was politically to hate the blacks. I don't agree with @pluralistic on some big items, but I respect his writing and there's some things we're both in agreement on. Same as a lot of people on fediverse. I want people around who challenge my worldview a bit, I don't want to live in an echo chamber.
