Advocate for freedom and tolerance even if you say things I do not like

Adversary of Fediblock

Accept that I'll probably say something you don't like and I'll give you the same benefit, and maybe we can find some truth about the world.

Ah... Is the Alliteration clever or stupid? Don't answer that, I sort of know the answer already...

Pick a politician. Our great Fuhrer Trudeau has advocated for both and actively implemented policies that are intended to promote both.

paraphrasing a bit.

"...and therefore we need to commit genocide by reducing the amount of food we grow and reducing the ability of people to heat their homes in -40C winters"

Right.... How about we do anything other than that?

>Government fails to provide public transport
>People use cars instead at massive personal expense
>Get mad at people for using cars
>We need to ban cars so there's public transport!

It's a "fuck you got mine" mindset. Got their start being free to experiment with ideas and media and different jokes, now that they've found their grift pull the ladder up because fuck you got mine...

Huh! That was a surprise ending for me!

First chapter of The Graysonian Ethic: Lessons for my unborn son released in audiobook form on youtube. I've got it set up to release another chapter every week until the book ends.

I wish I could be optimistic, but just look south to the Jan 6th protesters (Or the treatment of the trucker convoy) for the truth that these people only like the rule of law when it suits them, and damn it the moment it's not. There's no reason to believe it will necessarily end here.

But it's a good step, at least.

This is a great piece of news. The hero who stood up against covid authoritarianism, Artur Pawlowski, won his freedom in court.

When we don't give up, good does sometimes triumph over evil, as long as it never gives up.

Every time one of these tech companies posts its financials, I have to step back and ask why they look the way they do.

What exactly is snapchat spending 1 billion dollars a year on? How many employees and servers do you really need to run a shitty little chat tool?

In proud defense of her majesty's royal doughnut reserves.

Right? It's like -- go back to Norway, you damn Normans! You're not welcome here in England!

It's near perfect. Except for the lack of a headphone jack. Or a SD card slot. Or a removable battery. So it's far enough from perfect that it's not worth even considering.

This made me laugh. Reminds me of back when funny could be funny.

Histrionics will get you everywhere...

Nobody tells me wot to dooooooooooooooo

That's a good point. I need to keep in mind that a shocking amount of our culture is directed by incredibly powerful and smart people who want to make sure their bread remains buttered.

It's been forever since I was on reddit since I don't have any use for a communications medium you can't communicate on, but last time I was there reddit gold just gave a few quality of life improvements for a month (Stuff like continuous scrolling on the mainpage), so every reddit gold you got was another month where those quality of life improvements were available to that user. Basically you can buy the premium features for yourself, or another person can tip you a month of the premium features.

Life where you just succeed at everything is a living death.

You get out there, you do what you think is the right thing, and sometimes you fail, but sometimes you succeed, and sometimes success takes a really long time and a lot of effort, but that's the only reason it's worth anything. Once the difficult task is done, reality is it's time to start looking at the horizon for the next goal, and you start striving again. That's life, if you're doing it right.

Then eventually you look back and go "Wow, I guess I did accomplish something, eh?" even though there's still so much beyond the horizon left to explore.
