Accept that I'll probably say something you don't like and I'll give you the same benefit, and maybe we can find some truth about the world.

Ah... Is the Alliteration clever or stupid? Don't answer that, I sort of know the answer already...

Seems to me like specifically choosing causes based on dividing people so they are easier to conquer.

Drive wedges between people. Tell them they're special, or that they're the opposite of special. Tell them they can't talk about someone else or can't be talked about. Tell them they deserve special treatment or special punishment. Bring up long dead grievances out of nowhere.

Anything but treating our neighbors as brothers and sisters. The most dangerous thing is if we see each other's as equals!

Haven't found new Android releases exciting for a long time. Mostly just Windex at this point.

It's a dangerous thing to assume that because you throw tech at something it magically becomes good.

I saw a video today about "3d printed houses". The method was to take local clay and print walls. Thing is, you don't need a fancy 3d printer to make houses out of clay. People have been making houses out of clay since prehistory. Making the building of such a house slightly more efficient by adding a million dollars in specialized equipment doesn't necessarily add anything.

It's important to remember that although many of us live in areas that have significant law and order and are relatively safe, evil exists and does not cease to exist just because you can't see it around you.

I think that's part of the problem of this moment in history -- people are so used to things being safe they think that safety is free, when in reality it only exists because a lot of people make a lot of choices every day.

The moment those choices stop being made, the world stops being a safe place. Not just in a "oh you said a mean word" sense, but in a "I don't know if you get to survive to tomorrow" sense.

The nice thing is that it's win/win.

Either there's an emergency and you can eat beef, or there isn't an emergency and you can eat beef.

It's so nice having deleted my account.

And as things start to hurt for these big tech companies that need to pretend to have perpetual growth, my account is a snowflake in an avalanche that turns into headlines saying "Facebook loses 1M accounts in q3", which would be glorious

Always glad to see my fediverse frens prepared for a dark winter.

Know what's interesting? I just voted in the conservative leadership race, and one of the requirements for voting was a photocopy of your ID.

Turns out AVE is just a great guy. I was even a patron before I told Patreon to get stuffed.

One city I lived in had a bunch of places called The original pancake House. I always like to imagine that the entire city was once the original city-sized pancake house, and they slowly knocked down that one giant original pancake House to make way for the rest of the city.

I have to ask... What is the effective difference between evolution and devolution?

Life is continuously changing due to environmental factors such as radiation changing DNA or viruses moving genes between species, and the changes that cause forms of life to die out don't continue, and the changes that cause forms of life to thrive do continue. This process is evolution, and it's an obvious consequence of living in a world that will allow you to die without breeding if you're unfit.

So effectively, all changes are evolution if the species continues to survive and reproduce. Is devolution then just evolution that doesn't move in the direction we would prefer it to move in?

Mitochondrial eve is an established theory suggesting that there is literally a single woman who all humans descend from.

Apparently human beings have an unusually similar genetic structure compared to many other species.

This guy's channel is great, and he really breaks down how to build several types of 3d game engine in ways even someone like me can understand.

I tend to agree with this.

I generally don't curate my timeline per se as a philosophical stance. I have lots of stuff I like, and lots of stuff I hate, and lots of stuff I don't really have an opinion on, and it really makes you realize the world is broader than the world presented by the algorithm, which is looking for stuff you'll either love and engage with or hate and engage with.

Even if you do curate your timeline though, it's a completely different world than the algorithm. You specifically choose what you do and do not want to see.

How many times have you told youtube you don't want to be recommended some channel or another and it waits 20 minutes and recommends it again? Apparently to big tech, no doesn't mean no.

Maybe he should use his own weapons from now on... You know, since he wouldn't want to use weapons from people he has so much contempt for...

Smashing Saturday
It is the internet so you can never tell for sure, but I'm at least 80% certain would smash.

I kind of get a kick of it when I get reported. I mean, I'm the admin on my instance. The sole admin. I always like to imagine that whoever reports me thinks that I'm going to ban myself.
