Advocate for freedom and tolerance even if you say things I do not like

Adversary of Fediblock

Accept that I'll probably say something you don't like and I'll give you the same benefit, and maybe we can find some truth about the world.

Ah... Is the Alliteration clever or stupid? Don't answer that, I sort of know the answer already...

The chapter on dating in particular was the moment you could see her starting to snap. She started off all cocky, like "Oh, I'm a woman so this is going to be simple. I'll show those stupid men" and she was shocked at the fact that the rules were completely different once the gender she presented with changed.

The woke like to say "privilege is invisible to those who have it". You have to respect her for seeking truth and not looking away when it wasn't what she wanted it to be.

When you get to that point, you're a lot more invested than a typical person.

That's the truth of people like CEOs that most don't want to accept: They're not like everyone else. They dedicate an unimaginable part of themselves to leading something meaningless like bed bath and beyond. Yes, they make a lot of money, but they also have their lives regimented into 5 minute chunks.

Imagine the roller coaster ride this guy's been on. BBBY was struggling like many brick and mortar retailers, and investors were acting on that and shorting the stock, leading to it becoming a meme stock, leading to the stock exploding which I'm sure felt like a second chance, then the meme died down and all he was left with was a dying company, and ultimately he had to make a choice that would result in probably thousands of layoffs.

I bet that roller coaster ride ended up feeling like a major personal failure.

You know, if you put it out every year, eventually you've got a 1 in 4 chance of getting it right!

Chadyes

Nooooooooooo! Get away from me, you monster!

Well.....which ones?

Because I'm not mixing with a filthy Polak or a wop!

It's easy to get sucked in and start thinking one group is the devil and another is purely good, and lately I've been reminding myself that it's not the case.

If you're driving down the road, you need to be able to steer left and also steer right.

Hate to say it, even as a tech guy myself (I run most of the services I use ffs) sometimes it seem most sensible to just stick with low tech. Gadgets and gizmos seem to have caused more problems than they've solved.

With respect to stolen elections, it's immaterial either way, and it'd be easier if everyone could just get that. We have a name for people who get elected president through cheating: "The President". At worst, they'll get fined a slap on the wrist by the election commission.

Thankfully, the past 6 years has been an eye opener for a lot of people. We used to trust institutions, now we know we shouldn't and people are building their own decentralized systems, processes, and the like. That's a good thing no matter who ends up in charge.

Most of the summer of love, for one...

Yeah. There's a light novel series called "the economics of prophecy" which would probably make a shitty anime if I'm being honest but the guys only superpower in the new world is that he has a phd in economics which is neat.

I somehow forgot Dr. Stone which is sort of more a kids anime but I love it because it gets into science and engineering and it's really fun watching everyone get excited about a new technological advance.

like I said, it's a great time to watch anime, there's so many great releases.

Yes, and also because the previous seasons are fantastic too. It goes way faster than you'd think

Oh and more in terms of older anime to catch up on, of course hunter x hunter and log horizon. Log Horizon had a new season last year I need to catch up on.

I like Overlord IV which is going on right now about someone isekai'd into being the most powerful undead overlord on earth; Ascension of a bookworm is in the middle of a new season and it's like capitalism the anime; I didn't realize but reincarnated as a slime had a second half to the last season which was awesome because reincarnated as a slime is the best; Skeleton Knight in Another World was a quick romp I enjoyed...

Honestly, the past few years has had so much good stuff... I've also gotten into light novels in the past year which I'm starting to prefer for all the little details they can cover. I've been reading the Hell Mode series cover to cover as soon as it's written, and Full Clearing Another World under a Goddess with Zero Believers. I like them because instead of being automatically overpowered, the protagonists start out significantly weaker than anyone else and need to rely on ingenuity and hard work to excel but eventually become world class.

In terms of older stuff to get your hands on, I still think Trigun is ace tier, right up there with cowboy bebop. I prefer the sub, but the dub is very tolerable.

For anyone who maintains a peertube instance, I found a neat new instance, beetoons.tv -- It seems to mirror a lot of great cartoon channels off of youtube.

Careful with those! Trigger disciplines on those guns, my dude!

One thing the extreme nazi extremists in the pick-up arts community found is that if you buy a really cool car, it'll attract men and not women. I feel like registering your fists as lethal weapons might similarly get you attention, but not from women.

"Dropped a plate, shattered into a thousand pieces. Spent the next week cataloguing shards for the lethal weapon registry"

Pretty sure it's just a meme. :P

Seems like if you had to register anything that could be used as a lethal weapon you'd be doing nothing but filling out paperwork all day. "Found a rock with a sharp edge while digging in the garden, took a walk to the government weapons center"

"We will protest violence against black people! By committing mass acts of violence against black people! Take that, black people! That'll teach you to be brutalized by racist white cops!"
