Advocate for freedom and tolerance even if you say things I do not like

Adversary of Fediblock

Accept that I'll probably say something you don't like and I'll give you the same benefit, and maybe we can find some truth about the world.

Ah... Is the Alliteration clever or stupid? Don't answer that, I sort of know the answer already...

Have to admit, it shocks me how genuine it feels raising my son.

I had to throw the worries about double entendres or death flags or digging six levels deep to see the postmodern interpretation when you look at it through critical cotton candy theory as proposed by Fookov away and just accept that I, a grown-ass man with a degree hanging on my wall, am going to unironically and enthusiastically sing the alphabet song another 3,000 times, and count to 10 and back down again at least as many times.

When you kick all the postmodern meta-analysis of every action to the curb, you start to realize how much we're crippled by the same.

taking 7 months off due to injury? Don't worry buddy I'm taking way more months off than that in between bench presses!

The backlash is going to be wicked.

Pic related. It's a number of parts scavenged from roadside signs.

op delivers! Thanks!

sauce?

I don't know if it's true, but I've heard that this guy was about to get attacked by the woke police for being "toxically masculine", so he strapped on some giant fake tits and a wig to use the same policies against the people who were about to cancel him.

Go figure. When a communications platform is no longer useful for communication, people leave.

[Admin Mode] So FBXL Translate and FBXL Maps are offline for a bit (weeks or months) because I repurposed the hardware to create a massively overpowered network device.

I've been planning the job for a while, today I finally did it -- I replaced a consumer grade networking device with said massively overpowered network device, and replaced a bunch of interconnected switches with one more appropriate single core switch, and overall flattened the network architecture which was previously a bunch of different networks glommed together in ways that made things complicated for me. I also replaced a pretty brutal cable management solution that looked nice but was bad with something that looks less nice but is much better. Panduit ftw.

Sad thing with work like this is that if I did it right, all the work should be invisible anyway.

Me watching the number of discord servers I'm in explodes:

"I am the Bone of my Discord server
Discord Server is my Body and discord server is my Blood.
I have created over a thousand Discord servers,
Unknown to Death,
Nor known to having a Life.
Have withstood Pain to create many Discord servers
Yet those Hands will never hold boobs.
So, as I Pray--
Unlimited Discord Server Works"

Debate over: I'm the worst at hosting an instance.

Interesting story about the creation of the iPod. It's interesting to note how much of the story is of Apple taking existing ideas and existing products and putting them together. A lot of the time that's how big revolutions come about, applying existing tools in new ways.

While it's obviously important that programs are well programmed and the like, the most important parts are the things one or two steps away from the code. You could have the best program on the planet for example and if it's impossible to install, or maintain, or use, then it's not the best program on the planet.

A lot of the open source programs I use, whether it's servers or programming languages or operating systems or web apps, won in part because I was able to figure out how to make it work. I'm sure I'm not alone.

tfw some of them aren't even android apps...

I've followed Peterson for a while, and I've seen him break down a number of times.

Of course he would. He's empathetic towards the people he wants to help, because he actually went out to understand people who need help rather than just calling them unfixable and less than human.

I've been married for a long time and my son is laying on the floor next to me, but once I was what you might call an "incel", before that became the insult du jour.

Something a lot of these judgmental pieces of trash don't care to know is that a lot of people who don't have women are like that because they were pursuing something else. A lot of good men with good backgrounds and great jobs spent all their time building that background and getting that job, so of course they don't know how to attract women. It's not a personal failing.

Take 100 people in an engineering classroom or a law classroom or a medical classroom learning to do a really difficult job that takes a lot of work, and take 100 people in a trap house surrounded by druggies. I bet you there's fewer virgins in the trap house by far. I guess by this metric it's better to be a drug addict than anything respectable.

Some men need some help. Some men need help earlier in life because they don't have any ambition to do anything or they don't know how to get started or they need someone to tell them it's ok to want better out of your life, some men need a hand when they're building something and things are hard because you're deferring gratification, some men need a hand after they've built something and they don't know how to get to the next step because they've spent all their lives doing what they were supposed to do!

And when someone is there to give help, they're viciously attacked. Think about it: This guy gives advice like "clean your room, take on responsibility, stand up straight, contribute to society, try to do the right thing" and they treat him like he's teaching men to become serial killers or something!

The "Incel community" in my view came about because every time men tried to better themselves, society slaps them and tells them they're evil for even trying. Eventually, those same men just go "Oh, I guess I'm just broken then" and so they just agree with society.

I've helped out virgins who were actually great guys. Some were artistic, some were athletic, some were massively accomplished professionally. Some were more handsome than average. It might shock you how little help a lot of these supposed incels needed. A few hours changed their lives.

What it takes is just a little bit of a hand up, and we're all elevated. Our entire society is better for it. The men are better, and the women who are now realizing they can't find a good man are better, but it means treating the world like it's not a zero sum game, and it means not trying to knock down anyone who isn't you or part of your tribe.

Imagine having a natural disaster and your first reaction is explicitly racist.

These people need to an hero.
