It's also quite important to remember that Victorian prudishness wasn't an idea without merit. I've been planning the job for a while, today I finally did it -- I replaced a consumer grade networking device with said massively overpowered network device, and replaced a bunch of interconnected switches with one more appropriate single core switch, and overall flattened the network architecture which was previously a bunch of different networks glommed together in ways that made things complicated for me. I also replaced a pretty brutal cable management solution that looked nice but was bad with something that looks less nice but is much better. Panduit ftw.
Sad thing with work like this is that if I did it right, all the work should be invisible anyway.
