Why do I feel like he had to fire 95% of twitter staff just to get everyone to do what he told them without trying to prevent it?
I just tested on mobile, and it doesn't return me to the top of my feed, but the feed does advance without me so while I'm at say 25% scrolled down, but the post at 25% scrolled down could be a completely different one.
I just share the link to clipboard on linux and paste into a new post.
Both are good. Started with one ended up on another.

I don't know mastodon, but I don't even use an app for soapbox-fe anymore. It works well as just a mobile website, and if I enable notifications then it also lets me know when something happens.
Step 1: Don't approach billionaires screaming "I'll suck your dick for an angry tweet!"

Caesar Milan showed that dogs become ill behaved when you take away their work they do to exist. If they can't run around in the yard, if you don't take them for walks, if they don't catch the stick or the frisbee, then they start to become hypervigilant. They destroy furniture, they bark at the mailman, they become manic.
I think this applies to humans too. People are chasing their tails and figuratively tearing apart the furniture because we've taken away their work to exist. We're not built to idle 80 years then die.

Once again parts scavenged from a roadside sign is the superior social media website. Didn't even cost 45 billion.

RIP killdozer. You may be in a thousand pieces in a thousand landfills, but you'll always live on in a thousand pieces in our hearts.
They cut it into tiny little pieces and had it buried in thousands of different landfills to make sure nobody took any pieces of it as trophies.

Also, mastodon isn't one website, so there's no reason to stay on one instance if you're finding it slow... The whole point of the fediverse is you can talk to others between servers.
My little server is hosted on parts scavenged from a roadside sign, and if my reading of the dashboard is correct, it's peering with 7,195 other servers which is pretty insane. Virtually everyone I talk to is on another server. Despite connecting to that many servers, it's really fast and during peak times there's simply no way to keep up with the timeline scrolling past.
One website that gets into the details of what's on the fediverse in terms of websites and software packages is https://the-federation.info/ which I've used in the past to find different lemmy and lotide communities to connect to on my lotide instance, but it also lists instances using mastodon or other similar software.

the only acceptable slavery is wage slavery.
(Even though it seems like you could wander around killing random bandits and be just fine)

The Hadean and Archean eras are really fascinating. I once spent days reading up about the different geological eras and it really helped me realize how small things add up over geological timeframes. Things we consider obvious and eternal are often relatively new additions to the planet.
It means all posts get to stay but they don't get to stay interacted with.
It's a shade better than constant bannings, but you know he couldn't actually have a free speech platform even as the world's richest man.

I mean, if these people would stop being so ignorant they'd realize that quote posts exist in lots of places, but they insist that mastodon is the fediverse.
