Advocate for freedom and tolerance even if you say things I do not like

Adversary of Fediblock

Accept that I'll probably say something you don't like and I'll give you the same benefit, and maybe we can find some truth about the world.

Ah... Is the Alliteration clever or stupid? Don't answer that, I sort of know the answer already...

WHY WOULD ELON MUSK DO THIS?

I can absolutely see why Pearson would be filled to the broom with a woke nonsense: without it, people need to start asking why they are selling a $7 textbook for $150 when the author writes it for free.

All it would take is a bit of global turmoil. If oceans become a bit less safe or easy to travel then suddenly trade needs to justify the military effort to protect it

America has very little refining capacity and it appears there will never be any more created, so it makes sense there wouldn't be a market for additional oil in the US.

And only $79USD... I want one.

The first time that their vehicle is out of control, most people make the mistake of trying to slam the steering wheel in the opposite direction to correct things. Doing so only makes the loss of control worse. What you end up wanting to do is straighten up your wheels relative to the road so at the very least your front wheels regain traction.

I'll be the first to admit that I'm not 100% sure how that analogy applies to economics and Central banking. It certainly seems like it warns us against taking extreme measures just because something bad is happening in the moment.

Get an error message the moment I start trying to federate with another community or user

Considering that other instances seem to be federating, I'm reasonable sure it's somehow my fault. Just trying to figure out why.

Working really nicely, except for the single most important thing it's supposed to do. Doesn't federate yet.

These idiots are cheering while Caesar crosses the Rubicon.

Bad news: The republic didn't survive that event.

Working on minimum viable kbin install.

Almost there... It's running, but it isn't federating yet.

If old guys like us think this is fucked and we're not having it slammed down our throats by a bunch of administrators, imagine how much backlash is building amongst the children.

The harder they squeeze, the more kids slip through their fingers, and it won't be pretty.

If drinking and smoking up the night before work is a prosecutable crime, then a lot of people in Hollywood are about to go to jail.

One huge thing I'm hoping is that federation becomes the norm, and then the independent forums can start to get the benefits of a unified platform without the dangers of a single point of failure.

Lol "my phone is 8 inches and 3 inches thick!"

I'm just saying that a phone that big won't fit in a woman's pockets.

Protip: if you want to play with bing chat without using edge, just fake the user agent. Works just fine.

I feel like modern phones are compensating.

Like they'd buy a Ford F450 for milk runs because they need everyone to know they're definitely better than their dad look how big their truck is!

Yeah. A good chunk of big tech services don't make any money. Google's biggest win with YouTube is the fact that they own the video market, but I think it's barely profitable which is one reason why they are constantly fiddling with the monetization formulas. That being said, Facebook is indeed super profitable, and I'm pretty sure that the metaverse is just Mark Zuckerberg using his position at Facebook to try to complete a passion project and a bunch of idiot business analysts seeing massive dollar signs by extrapolating data point that doesn't exist saying that everyone on Earth will be using it.

A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court is a fun isekai.
