Advocate for freedom and tolerance even if you say things I do not like

Adversary of Fediblock

Accept that I'll probably say something you don't like and I'll give you the same benefit, and maybe we can find some truth about the world.

Ah... Is the Alliteration clever or stupid? Don't answer that, I sort of know the answer already...

I think they put a stay in place during the proceedings. Basically, saying that the ruling of the lower court is stayed pending certiorari (basically petitioning the supreme Court to see your case), because there's a good chance on the merits that the order could be overturned at the supreme Court level.

Essentially, rather than being a final decision, its a procedural action as to what should take place during the supreme Court case.

It'd be nice if we could use nostr as a back end for websites like activitypub but more decentralized. Then if the website pisses you off, you just take your private key with you elsewhere

I think unfortunately just a lot of the jobs disappeared, sent elsewhere. Much of North America has been in deep decline for 50 years and the unions didn't prevent that.

The thing that's required is for the working class to have more bargaining power, but the union isn't that -- its just the manifestation of power they already had.

I think the things that need to happen are for the upcoming population collapse to occur. Historically, its those eras where working class people get power back. If we're lucky it'll be peaceful, but in previous eras it got really bloody, such as the French civil war.

Ain't that cool!

I'm not opposed to alternative structures than the traditional employer/employee relationship, but not the specific stuff I've seen.

Hey let’s hire Ashok for this position! He’s really good!

Oops, sorry. Bob Whiteman has been here for 30 years. He’s just good enough not to fire but he has seniority so he gets first dibs on the job.

Hey, let’s give Ashok a raise! He’s really good!

Oops, sorry. Bob Whiteman has been here for 30 years. He’s just good enough not to fire. It he’s been here the longest so he gets paid the most.

Some people who are for unions and against being able to pay people based on their competence instead of seniority say "I really don’t care to play 'who deserves a minimum quality of life'."

Reality doesn’t care whether you care to play or not.

There’s a limited amount of resources, you can’t hire everyone on Earth, you can’t give everyone an unlimited salary. Everything past that you’re making decisions as to who gets what.

And by the way, if you make enough poor decisions eventually everyone loses their jobs.

76 counts for Trump, 0 counts for Ghislane Maxwell's clients.

Of course its purely political.

SAP must hire the best call girls to jump heads of IT departments... There's no other explanation for so many big companies going with such a shitty product.

England: beware. Mongolia: all good!

Wtf Germany?

It just occurred to me that now Trudeau will know what it feels like to have someone take half of his income

"Oh! We were going to take over the country, but then they threatened to stop sending free money so that totally changes everything"

Shouldn't it be "touch grace"?

I didn't think two massive explosions had taken out US critical infrastructure, but now I do because "fact checkers" are actively anti-fact.

In the year 3000: "no! I don't know anything about their plans.... They correctly set their robots.txt file!"

With that corset on, I think the answer to the question is simply "yes".

He looks really surprised. "Whoah. How'd I get here?"

Fighting to take defeat from the jaws of Victory at intel

>cut by hand
Scissors cutting grass

Sun Tzu says that the victorious general will win the victory first then fight the battle, and the defeated general will fight the battle first then try to win the victory.

In this context, Mike Pence is an idiot. He was the orange man's VP, and then he threw all the orange man people under the bus. So what's he got? The people who hate orange man will hate him for associating with the orange man, the people who love the orange man will hate him for betraying the orange man.

What's the victory condition here?
