Advocate for freedom and tolerance even if you say things I do not like

Adversary of Fediblock

Accept that I'll probably say something you don't like and I'll give you the same benefit, and maybe we can find some truth about the world.

Ah... Is the Alliteration clever or stupid? Don't answer that, I sort of know the answer already...

Other than the 30 pin port, people are acting like it's some sort of impossible achievement, but all phones used to have all of these things and they weren't impossible phones -- in fact, phones were way smaller back then.

"people aren't trusting the media!"

"Just force them to learn how trustworthy the media is in school! It'll work like DARE, which worked great!"

FWIW, most people aren't ok. There's a major mental health pandemic going on around the world which is one reason why things have been so insane lately. Part of the reason nobody's talking about it is that we've left behind all our previous allegorical knowledge on the cutting room floor because we decided we were wiser than the last million years of humans dealing with often similar issues.

Men are easier in this regard, most just want a load to haul. Give a man responsibility and a bit of credit and that's a huge thumbs up. Unfortunately, I can't say for sure what might help a woman feel better in general. If I had to guess, I'd say an IRL social network of people she can depend on.

Women are *allowed* to chase certain men, but they might find out that they don't like what happens next. When you put yourself out there, prepare to get rejected, especially if you're a superficial slag with no redeeming qualities chasing after a triple-6 man.

"I have found the man with six fingers. I am Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die."

Dummies keep wanting unlimited government spending without realizing that giving unlimited spending without unlimited tax means slowly all tax dollars eventually just go to bankers.

"Oh God why are guys always looking at me they're such creeps I just want to be able to wear comfortable clothing"

And that doesn't always mean unrealistically high standards.

Tim Pool said it: someone was like "Israel should support a cease fire" and he goes "There was a cease fire. Then Palestine violated it."

I don't really have a dog in this fight, but that's a pretty good argument. If you walk up to someone and hit them, you can't just drop your fists and expect all violence to stop, this isn't an elder scrolls game.

Through the fog of war I don't know how much of the stuff alleged is true, but not a lot of it has to be for the whole idea that you just give a thumbs up and go "eh, it's ok boss" to be downright offensive.

It's another example of "speech is violence. Silence is violence. Violence is not violence."

All excellent points.

It's sort of funny watching politicians thinking the problem is not enough authoritarianism.

"People are really mad that someone did something unspeakable to Innocents!" "Don't worry! We'll ban being mad at things!"

The arc is apparently ok but drivers are questionable.

We're seeing more and more right wing and "far right" victories around the world, but it's something a lot of people have been warning loudly about for years.

It isn't because of neoliberalism (I'll make another post sometime explaining why neoliberalism is largely a red herring), it's because the left gave up on liberalism and tolerance and became authoritarian and hateful.

Not every individual, of course there's lots of people who are still following the ideology that made them a cultural juggernaut for a long time, and there's a lot to appeal to in that. Regardless, the establishment left is terrible. Trudeau seizing the bank accounts of peaceful protesters can't be undone. Biden up against a blood red background flanked by soldiers to go on a screed against his hated political enemies can't be undone. Count Dankula getting arrested for teaching a little purse dog to do a stupid nazi salute can't be undone. Jordan Peterson having to fight in court because they're trying to take his psychiatry license away because of purely political statements made on twitter can't be undone.

This isn't the first time I've said this, but if you go back to the Weimar republic and saw what conditions led to the National Socialists getting power, you'd be hard pressed to purposefully match the conditions better: You have a people who are sick of being told they're evil for stuff they didn't have any say in. You have high inflation. You have massive pain felt by the common person for reparations being paid out of their pockets. According to one book, the Weimar republic also had examples of moral degeneracy such as child brothels that would shock the conscience of most people but was considered cutting edge at the time. That sort of thing gave the National Socialists something to leverage.

People try to argue with me on this stuff, but the proof in the pudding is in the eating. The far right is crushing the center right in many elections around the world, and the right is starting to win big against the left in many elections around the world. AfD was once unspeakable in Germany. The far right party has won in the netherlands. A deep libertarian has won in Argentina. Poilievre is looking to dominate the next election in Canada. It's even looking like Donald Trump could be the next president of the United States despite 7 solid years of defamation in the media and hundreds of criminal charges (an unprecedented act in US politics that can't be undone, might I add). Even if someone wins a debate with me, it doesn't change the facts about what's happening around the world.

Even some longtime right wingers are concerned about what the far right backlash is going to look like because it has the capacity to be really, really bad. I have to admit, I'm pretty scared of it myself because I'm not actually far right and their ideal world is one I don't want to live in.

Sort of like an AI version of the halting problem.

Thing is that even the stock market is doing way better than it has any business doing considering market fundamentals. There's a lot of stuff that's doing insanely well and it shouldn't be, and I see that as a symptom of too much money.

That being said, the sad thing is that the common man is the one who suffers while liquidity gets sucked out of the system. Especially since when the rich fail (like SVB) the government steps in to bail them out but there's no bailout for Joe the electrician.

It blows me away seeing the spendtards not understanding what's going on out there.

People point to their pet program and go "BUT WE CAN'T CUT THAT!" without realizing that we're going to have to cut a lot of things a lot of people rely on and it's a direct consequence of refusing to cut anything for 15 years.

Oh, you wanted universal healthcare? Too bad! We need that money to pay bankers interest.

Oh, you wanted universal drug plans? Too bad! We need that money to pay bankers interest.

Oh, you wanted to end homelessness? Too bad! We need that money to pay bankers interest.

Oh, you wanted to feed starving kids? Too bad! We need that money to pay bankers interest.

Oh, you wanted to help [Insert latest country needing military or humanitarian aid here]? Too bad! We need that money to pay bankers interest.

If only people understood basic finance and that loans aren't free money! Remember those people saying "We need to spend a bunch of debt right now because interest rates are so low!"? Well, they got what they want! Hope they all like giving all their tax money to bankers instead of spending it on anything other than paying bankers!

Stuff like bitcoin continuing to go up is a good indicator that there's still too much money in the system.

It's insane just how much extra money is sloshing around, but this is what happens when you keep money printer going brrrr for 20 years...

Ironically, all the dumb social and financial engineering paid for with fake money is the reason Bitcoin is a global thing. If there wasn't so much fake money searching for a place to hide there wouldn't be this trillion dollars sloshing around in a bullshit ponzi scheme.

It's not rocket science -- the Democrats used to be against voting machines for the exact same reason!!!!!!!!
