IMO most likely:
1. Israel forced his hand, so he didn't really have a choice
2. He's hoping that Israel will be able to corral American Jews into backing him, so even if he's not well liked, he'll still have a decent chance
3. He thinks it'll be quick and easy "in and out"

Because I assume #Trump knew this war on #Iran would make his odds of Republicans losing the midterms badly much more likely, I've got two guesses at why he did it.
He thinks being at war can be turned into justification for cancelling the elections.
Israel has some really bad shit they were blackmailing him with related to the #EpsteinFiles.
