My entire life I've loved comedy. The past few years most comedians have died in my eyes. They kowtow to the establishment, and they're unwilling to speak truth.
There is no comedy without truth. Even comedy based on a lie requires the comedian and the audience to both recognize that it is a lie and have a mutual understanding of the truth. Often it is the incongruity between what is said and what is real that makes the joke funny.
To premise a joke on a lie, with the understanding that both the comedian and the audience must fundamentally pretend that what is being said is not a lie isn't comedy, it's propaganda. That is the reason why the powerful have attacked comedy so completely for so long. They can't sell their lies if people are trying to see the truth.
