I keep seeing people claiming to be Canadians saying they've never heard of Residential schools and how outraged they are.

If you are Canadian and have never heard of Residential schools, then you must not be a very good Canadian. The history is bloody inescapable. It's all you read about in the news, it's all you see on TV. What, are you just entirely immersed in trying to impress California such that you've entirely ignored the place you live your entire life?

If you are Canadian and you've never heard of Residential schools, don't speak up -- shut up and put your head down and learn something about your damn country. That's pathetic and embarrassing, not something to be proudly proclaiming. You're so ignorant that you don't know about one of the most widely known things about Canada on the planet, and something that has dominated the discourse for decades, that speaks to your deficiencies as a Canadian.

If you are Canadian and you've never heard of Residential schools, you must be in a nice little racially exclusive bubble. You've obviously never met a native in your life, because it's something that isn't a secret when you're around them. Maybe you shouldn't be speaking for a group you known nothing about and clearly have no exposure to. Go visit some reserves for a long period of time, read some newspapers, read some history books. Then come back to me about how outraged you are, once you're not just a fake wannabe Californian who doesn't know current events, history, or the people of the land you claim to love.
