The number of protests including the riots in south Africa shall likely increase as food prices continue to rise.

Remember, this unrest is a direct result of the series of decisions made to mitigate COVID-19. There are people starving to the extent that they're rioting around the world.

It's really important to remember that every decision has two sides. In maintenance theory, there's this idea that every time you do something to try to make things better, there's a chance that it ends up broken where it wasn't going to be broken before, and with COVID measures we need to remember that this does apply. Authoritarian governments are acting as if they're helping -- and maybe they are -- but there's an argument to be made for a light touch -- not that it matters at this point. It's too late, the bad decisions are made and we're going to keep seeing things getting worse for the world's most desperate people.
