@Jkid Nobody is going to save us. The only ones who can save us are ourselves.

And when I say "us", I don't mean "conservatives" necessarily. I went to Kitchener Comic Con before the world ended, and even though it nearly got the convention cancelled by cancel karens, they invited a bunch of different kinds of guests including Vic Mignogna and @RekietaLaw and it was really cool because there was a variety of people diverse in viewpoints as well as the things you'd typically consider "diverse".

I think there's people all across the political spectrum who would rather leave that monoculture alone. We'll have to be strong to not get cancelled, but I think it's the only way to save culture and keep having cool stuff of our own.

@Jkid The very specific (and broad) institutional monoculture you're talking about is really an odd one, if you think about it. Basically, their stances are totally fluid, absolutely internally inconsistent, but regardless intensely intolerant of dissent.

12 months ago, the vaccine was "The Trump vaccine I'd never take omg I'd die". Today it's "The Fauci vaccine and why haven't you taken it yet?". My favorite example is #stopasianhate when the institutional monoculture explicitly considers asians to be white the same as they now consider latinos to be white except when it's convenient for them not to be. They pretend to be anti-establishment while also supporting every single one of the most powerful establishment organizations on the planet. The status of any given stance relies almost exclusively on who holds the stance. The annihilation of civil liberties around the world in the name of COVID is just one part of the whole thing.

I don't think you can be of any political orientation and legitimately hold the views of the monoculture. It's a false ideology maintained by megacorps because it's useful to divide us in the electorate and in the workplace. The cancel karens are useful idiots enforcing it.

I compare it to the religious right of my formative years. It was useful in some ways to people in power, and those people used it up and tossed it away the moment it stopped being useful.

I've come to realize I'm a social libertarian. I don't really care what people do with their lives whether it's being traditional WASP straight out of the 50s or being an atheistic genderfluid polyamorist, but the moment you try to grab the gun of government or other institutional power and aim it at someone you disagree with, that's where my tolerance ends.

These cons aren't all doing the exact same thing because they're scared of COVID, they're doing it because they're scared of the cancel culture mob.

@Jkid I know they don't come in, you know they don't come in.

The owner of Kitchen Comic Con showed incredible bravery in standing up to the cancel culture mob, and you know what happened? Their best convention numbers EVER. Because these people don't participate. I'm happy I made the substantial journey to attend.

That's why we need to have people just doing their own thing and ignoring the mob because the mob doesn't do anything positive for your event or your book or whatever, it's the fans. #forthefans
