They were armed with a rifle, they were drunk, they were acting haywire. I don't care what race you are, they were courting disaster. This just happened to be the disaster they found.
Justifying such behaviour because of their race is insanely racist.
I made it about 15 seconds into the podcast before I had to stop. "Innocent" -- yeah, right. Maybe we should release an "innocent" group of people behaving like that in your back yard, we'll see how "innocent" you think they are then.

@jeffcliff @Ovpod I won't pretend anyone was purely innocent in this. Obviously someone ended up dead.
Having lived in the far north (I don't right now) I got to see the really complicated and really upsetting reality that exists. There's hate on all sides, and only someone living in downtown Toronto who has never had to experience the situation outside of some pseudo-missionary trip could see anyone as a purely good guy or purely bad guy. There's some pretty bad guys involved though, but nobody has a monopoly on them.
I think the situation can be different, but change can't come from the federal government throwing money at the problem. There are much more local problems that need to be solved locally. As long as we allow locals to scapegoat someone a 4-day roadtrip away for all their problems, then those problems will never be resolved and things will never improve.
