@josh The fediverse is a pretty interesting ecosystem, it's a number of websites (individually called instances) that run software that can look like Facebook or Twitter or Instagram or Reddit or whatever, and they run a common protocol called Activitypub on the back end that lets users on each site talk to each other like with email. especially with sites like poa.st, freespeechextremist, leafposters.club and other based instances. ans are per instance, so maybe some commie instance won't welcome you, but between based instances or instances built by people who don't have the time or will to moderate.
I've been on the fediverse for about 10 months now, and I find there's enough people on the platform as a whole that there's lots of interesting discussions and memesmithing and shitposting that I find it a regularly fun place to hang out.
