Water, for example, isn't something that needs to be conserved in a lot of places. It's a renewable resource. Let's say I take a long shower. The water is drawn out of the lake, then I use it, then it goes to the sewage treatment plant, where it is made safe, then it is returned to the lake.
It's a good example of a problem I talk about a lot. You've got people freaking out about conserving a renewable resource, and mounting solar panels in places that are winter 9 months a year. This isn't helping, it's just making you feel better.
