RSS is great. For podcasts, but also for updates from websites. I've got my news app in nextcloud, and it's just become where I get my news because it brings a bunch of totally different news sources together.
Friendica has a really cool feature where you can subscribe to RSS feeds and they just show up on your feed. I ended up migrating to another platform, but that's one big feature I miss from that platform.
