I always wonder if these death march positions are salaried so overtime is free of charge to the company.
If that's the case, someone who doesn't actually know the actual cost of perpetual overtime might come to the conclusion that it's in their best interest to work everyone to the bone for 23 hours a day and sleeping under the desk.
(Pretty clear in reality that overwhelming data shows overwork rarely results in more and better work)
