In space, hydrocarbons are relatively plentiful. For example, Saturn's moon Titan has hydrocarbon lakes.

So hypothetically, let's say we could use those hydrocarbons and convert them into glucose.

At that point, you could substantially sustain yourself on space rocks that have never before been a part of a living creature.

I dunno why but I thought that was an interesting thought.
