That's a good point. This is about individuals actions and character, not entire types of people.
If refugees come over who just keep their heads down and act as good citizens, I think most people who have problems would not have problems (besides the tactical issue of exactly how many people you let in at one time).
I went to college and was friends with an Iraqi refugee (in 2004) who was an Engineer there and snuck out with his family. He was re-educating so he could get a technical job in this country. Great guy, his story of putting everything on the line and not knowing if he was going to be captured or killed in order to escape and give his family a better life was inspiring.
The powers that be equating a guy like that to a bunch of rapists and murderers is scandalous.
