I can't believe that in 2020 Donald Trump had Joe Biden publicly investigated by the FBI with no probable cause to believe a crime had been committed!

Because that's not what happened. This week it's now official that in 2016 Barack Obama had Donald Trump publicly investigated by the FBI with no probable cause to believe a crime had been committed.

For all the talk of "a threat to democracy", that's actually a threat to democracy. I mean, they tried to impeach Trump for less.

And to be clear, nobody should be doing it. That's scary and it's an abuse of power no matter what.

That's a frighteningly accurate statement. The reason modern "democracy" is a constitutionally limited republic is that just because 50.00001% of people want a thing doesn't mean they should get it. We learned over centuries and failed empires that this was the case, but power is a siren's song.

I know! My only hope (and it does happen) is that the electorate is just slow and eventually realizes what's happening and there's a reaction.

In Ontario, it looked like the liberal party under Kathleen Wynne could do anything and remain in power. They did all kinds of nutty things. But eventually it caught up with them and they were trounced so hard in elections that they aren't even considered an official party anymore. But it took longer than anyone would have expected.
