There's people being paid to do journalism today, but just like the old days of Walter Kronkite, it's about trust. That's where porn isn't compatible with news.

Right now the professional suits are getting clobbered too.

Trust is a delicate thing. It isn't easy to earn, and it's easy to lose.

Gimmicks might get a sub for a month, but it isn't going to get anyone to come back.

I remember looking at nakednews back in the 2000s or so, and it was sort of crappy news and it was sort of crappy porn.

Most people looking at a gimmick like naked news would assume it would quickly degenerate if it didn't already.

I feel like any sort of gimmick sort of distracts from the core mission and would be ultimately harmful. Clown news where a clown reads the news. Unicycle news where someone on a unicycle reads the news. Standing on head news where someone reads the news standing on their heads. Most of the trusted news sources tend to just call themselves by name and rely on the work they do to sell the work they do.

If you're using those 3 people as examples, then you're not understanding my point, because in my view they all prove my point.

Sadly, Jon Stewart isn't capable of being 2008 Jon Stewart anymore. Once in a while it looks like maybe he's trying to act like 2008 Jon Stewart and tell the truth about something, but he gets pounded into the dirt by his (now) establishment hack colleagues.

I'd argue Tucker Carlson took his licks on Crossfire and that's what made him so popular and so hated.

Crossfire was a dumb gimmick show too, but later on he started telling truths you're not supposed to say.
