I like the idea of a small electric pickup, but it needs to be cheap to make sense, and they don't mention the price. Given the long range, I have a feeling it's probably still in the "just buy an ICE truck" range.

I think these people don't realize that $50,000 is a lot of money for most people. If you're spending $50,000 us on a vehicle, your transportation budget is spoken for. It needs to be something that can do everything you needed to do at all times for a long time.
