What does it mean to "choose to believe" something?

Am I a bugman? What kind of bug? I hope I'm one of those iridescent green ones. They're cute.

Why is trusting intuition equivalent to choosing your beliefs?

At first, I thought you called it "rational irrationality" because you use reason to determine that you should trust your intuition.

The mention of faith is also relevent as I was originally referring to the Christian concept of heresy. It comes from the Greek word "hereisis", which means IIRC "choice". Heretics were originally considered to be people who "chose to reject the word of God".
