Honestly, if you were going to install any windows 10 (and for some people they just want windows 10 or nothing regardless of whether it's a good idea), Enterprise LTSC is the best of a bad set of choices.
OTOH, linux is the only real option for older or just less powerful hardware. My dad's a boomer and he has probably done it a few dozen times, giving folks cheap SSDs with linux installed and magically seeing computers that most people would consider unusable become perfect daily drivers.
