The "populist right"/far-right/alt-right were always authoritarian. How is this guy just now noticing?

Yeah, no. I definitely prefer mandatory pronouns to gas chambers, lol.

I'm not sure what he means by the term. I assumed it was related to "alt-right" which I associate with poa.st types, others on fedi, and /pol/.

I don't make a point of reading CNN but I will if I see it linked and the article in question looks interesting.

And what do you mean by saying that populists can't be authoritarian?
The way I've always thought of it is that a populist is someone who appeals to the masses, and an authoritarian is someone who overuses the government.
Are you saying the masses can't be authoritarian? What about all those dictators that get voted into power democratically?

I think you misunderstand. When CJ said "the populist right" I thought he was referring to a specific group of people. Are you saying that he's not actually referring to those people but a different (and overlapping?) group?

Lol

>SUPPORTED the state
In particular the monarchy.
A revolution to overthrow an enlightenment-based democracy or republic and replace it with a monarchy sounds like it would be pretty right-wing to me, by any definition
