@LouisConde @Humpleupagus @Ottovonshitpost @nugger I recall reading somewhere that Nixon planned to use his massive reelection mandate to radically alter the structure of the federal government, essentially getting rid of large parts of the bureaucratic state that had been growing unabated since FDR. Would partially explain why the ruling class would want him gone.

The Hard Hat riot and other right wing demonstrations were poorly documented, there was entire marches held in NYC with thousands of people and no photos were taken, you can only find mention of it in archives of newspapers or magazines like Newsweek.
