Well, if we could be absolutely sure that the person we are torturing is actually the person who planted the bombs, then yes, it's useful and they deserve it.
But extra judicial punishment is taboo for a reason. If there's a significant enough chance that they were actually innocent, then you've tortured them unjustly.
