I have to presume it's because the Libs have been bought out by big-pharma. This regulatory capture is nothing new. It's been the status quo of death by a thousand cuts for many decades. I have friends in this industry who've been manufacturing herbal medicines, including by commission of companies like Pfizer and Merck, for four decades, but are continually being squeezed out of the market due to the regulatory burdens which are far beyond the budgetary and logistical capabilities of any small to medium sized business. It has nothing to do with health, and everything to do with hostile takeover of a competing industry. To say nothing of the fact that the vast bulk of pharmaceuticals are botanically derived.
