If it were not for Trigun being obviously hand drawn, I would have though it was a modern anime on the digital side of the great hand-digital exchange. That's how relatively modern it was.

Between the... I like to think of them as the big three scifi anime of the turn of the millennium, it was always weird to me that Trigun and Cowboy Bebop were always such huge breakouts and Outlaw Star just kinda languished in this dark corner of third place.
