Wow, my 'home' feed on Mastodon is filling faster than I can read it. This is a first.
Follow enough people and it becomes common at certain times of the week.
That fact totally changed the way I look at social media -- do I really need millions seeing my posts when I see more than I can even do anything with and I get plenty of meaningful engagement with my posts?

Right - giving up. Going to the top and taking the odd foray down the list, instead of trying to catch up comprehensively. I've got stuff to do today!
When that started happening to me, I turned off boosts on the home feed and everything got more sane. I still can't *really* keep up, but it's at least tractable now.
I realize you might have already done that or might be in a different place in any case...
