The current-day treatment of the mentally ill will be known in the future as a dark chapter of human history

@Hyolobrika that we let them self diagnose and don't expect them to try and better themselves?

@lunarised that they are locked up for thoughtcrime or unusual behaviour and force-fed drugs against their will and tortured

@Hyolobrika as someone with a mental disability, I extend a very firm "do better" to the mentally ill.

Imagine if we lived in a society where physically sick people kept not resting, not hydrating and only eating sugar, and the rest of society is supposed to look at it and pretend that it's normal and healthy.

when mentally ill people lock themselves up, spend 6 hours on social media and smoke copious amounts of weed, it flabbergasts me when people wonder why they're not getting better

We don't have a mental health issue, we have a mental hygiene education issue imo

@lunarised @Hyolobrika

No need to imagine, we already do.

@lunarised That may or may not be true, but it's not what I'm talking about in this thread

@echo @Hyolobrika I mean true. But I think most people look at them and go
"Wow, that person is not looking after themselves"

@Hyolobrika Pretty unspecific. A lot of stuff is wrong as it is, but what exactly are you protesting?

@Hyolobrika That there is that kind of abuse is not a mark of our time. Happened before.
