When I was a Baptist I both found things that we were supposed to believe that weren't in the Bible (the Trinity) and ignore things that were written in the Bible (I don't remember any specifics though)

I guess I am kind of still a Baptist, it's hard to get it out of your body.

@sun only thing I can understand maybe Noahs ark,Adam and Eve maybe when Jesus was born

@sun Sola Scriptura doesn't leave room for that sort of thing but it's never stopped people before.

A bunch of guys 1400 years go being pretty unanimous about something is more of a Papist thing. And probably Orthodox but it's hard to really be sure what's actually true about them with the influx of people who are joining orthodox in the west for all the wrong reasons. Not that I couldn't find out but I can't say I've had an especially good reason to take the time.

@leyonhjelm yeah I have had people tell me the "orthobro" thing is annoying, racism is not aligned with their values. the separation of the churches is an administrative thing.

@sun glad my parents allowed me to try out religions without dictate one. i have some friends in churches but i never saw a reason to join a religion myself

Hmm..

How are you qualifying that? Jesus himself directly referenced what we understand as the Trinity:

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit"

@sun Once Saved Always Saved

@republicanjesus it's tricky. if you keep fucking up really badly then your conversion maybe was not actually sincere.

> if you keep fucking up really badly

My brother, have you read the old testament?

It is literally just a bunch of stories of people fucking up.

@threalist @sun but the word 'Trinity' wasn't used! (Also, Paul discussed it, I believe.)
