NC-based producers -
I have a friend going up to Boone to volunteer with Samaritan's Purse, but they don't schedule anything on Sundays. If you know of any similar groups he should connect with while there Sunday, please let me know.
He's the perfect volunteer: super-fit and great with a chainsaw (which he's bringing).

If you want to support a very-well organized and effective organization, I recommend Samaritan's Purse. My friend's experience with them has been great.
Thank God for the generosity of regular American citizens. As @adam has said, we can't depend on our gov't, but connection is protection!
They are wonderful! I've supported their Christmas Child program in the past, but their real strength is in helping with these disasters. I hope to be able to get up there and volunteer with them as well. This will be a very long process.
Yes - I have a very good (and discerning) friend who is volunteering for them right now. He's impressed by their organization and outreach - and I trust him
