What is this about? I have NEVER noticed yellow paint in any game I remember playing.

@Rasterman resident evil, starting with 7

@Rasterman I assume it refers to obnoxious, in-your-face indicators about where to go and what to do, basically forced handholding so that DSP and his fellow retards don't give up on the game early.

@Rasterman its a nu gayme thing to help out gayme journos bc theyre retarded

@Rasterman I think the main argument was because Resident Evil games started doing it

@Suzu WTF. This looks like a joke. Is there an in-universe explanation for it perhaps?

@Rasterman RE4 Remake had yellow paint all over the place
I played the original for the first time and literally never got lost it's so unnecessary

It also literally means yellow paint.

This is a classic example of how game studios just copy whatever is out there rather than trying anything new. Here's a radical idea, why not have it so you can hide this feature if you don't like it? That's a fucking option, but of course, devs are literal retards now and don't even know how to do that because they do 'visual scripting' and know nothing about programming.

Reminds me of the pronouns shit and how many apologists there were initially for that and would refuse to give an option to disable it all.

@Rasterman the in universe explanation is "stop being a bigot and let retards who need obvious visual clues to be able to do anything enjoy the game".

@Rasterman Capcom loves to do this, if you don't play their games you might not have come across it.

A similar thing many other companies do now is they put a puzzle in their games, then they make a NPC constantly annoy you with hints on how to solve it rather than trust on your ability you figure it out yourself.

@Aviz I think the newest Capcom game I played was Mega Man 11.

Yeah, I remember when games wouldn't give away the answers. Like that obscure secret in Zelda OoT.

Fear not, puzzle game creators. I have gamefaqs so I don't need your hints.

Thank you! I need to be able to enjoy video games too!

@Rasterman mirror's edge kinda does this but it blends in with aesthetics nicely

@Rasterman the methods were more subtle

@rasterman This needs to be removed, with nothing to replace it.
It's a way to gatekeep the hobby.
Without objective markers, and yellow paint, normies will leave the hobby in droves.

@coded_artist @Rasterman the problem is the average customer is dumber

remember in the 90s it was not unusual for RPGs to just dump you out somewhere and say ehh fuck it you'll figure something out

I never understood why they wouldn't just compromise with an optional hint system

@Rasterman by bring back slurs
