I need to remember that Trump winning is not going to truly solve our biggest problems. The United States still has exorbitant debt, too much welfare spending, and an empire they cannot maintain, as well as many other issues. At best we just have more time to prepare for the bad times.
Yes, even if he's the most impactful president in 4 years in American history, this is a marathon and he'll be dropping out after the first mile.

@houseoftolstoy I believe you're mostly right on this. People have always put too much faith in the presidency. Mostly because they don't understand how the office works and what kind of powers it has and doesn't have. They're the kind of people that couldn't tell you what the three branches of government are, or how a bill is passed.
Having said that, I do believe that a president can hold enough bills hostage with the threat of veto to get some things done. Even against their own party if necessary. It obviously has to be used sparingly and very strategically. You can't do it every time or you'll just cause a coalition to form in Congress to override your veto.
I am looking forward to letting him cook and upset the apple cart as much as he can with 4 years. I'm just not going to pretend that one election is going to wipe away decades of corruption and ineptitude.

@KG_Analytical_Dynamics_LLC @houseoftolstoy well it has as much power as the ruling class allows. member obama and his czars?
@Heil_Honkler @houseoftolstoy
Yeah, I do, I love that they were so mask off that they were literally calling them czars. They campaigned against supposed authoritarianism, and then they call these people czars.
I get what you're saying. I do try to hope for the best and plan for the worst. I have decent tempered expectations. Some people act like they're electing Santa Claus, and he's going to punish the naughty and reward the nice.
